One of the hottest technologies to hit the computer market recently is Wifi.  Wifi actually stands for wireless fidelity, but means that your computer can connect to the internet wirelessly and from hundreds of meters away from the source of the signal.  Wifi hotspots are places where people with the necessary equipment can pick up wifi signals and log onto the internet safely and securely.  Here are some tips on finding a wifi hotspot.

Many wifi hotspots are located in cities and high trafficked areas.  Many restaurants such as McDonalds and Starbucks offer wifi access to the masses for a small fee or with a purchase.  However if you don’t want to pay for wifi internet access, more and more free wifi hotspots are popping up all over America.

It’s easy to find a wifi hotspot; many people advertise free wifi at their businesses, stores and meeting points.  There are also directories that can help you find a wifi hotspot if you are planning on being in an area with your computer.  Most universities are also offering free wifi hotspots and there are even large cities such as Philadelphia and San Francisco that are cutting deals so that the entire city can be one big wifi hotspot.  So if you would like to surf the net with your laptop computer find a wifi hotspot.
