Portable digital video recorders are a new breed of electronic gadgets that enable place shifting for lots of video lovers.  DVR’s are much different than a DVD player or a TIVO machine.  Here is some information.

DVR’s are small, hard drive units that include video decoders as well as inputs and outputs that can connect to either a computer or TV.  For people that would like to save their video collection, DVR’s are the perfect gadget.  Not only do most DVR’s have lots of storage, usually 60 GB or more, but they also allow you to play your videos on almost any TV, so you can carry around your video collection where ever you would like to go.

For instance, many people digitize their entire video collection and then bring it with them on vacation or to their friend’s house.  They can easily hook up the DVR to a TV set and easily watch their favorite videos.  Besides watching videos, you can also record videos or any kind of data easily on the DVR.  Most DVR’s come with easy to use software and decoders to easily play video files such as DivX, WMA and .AVI files.  If you are looking for a great way to store and play your video files on the go, check out portable DVR’s.
