DTV is a tentative name given to this free and open-source desktop television application currently developed by Participatory Culture Foundation.

Broadcast Machine the other side of this TV equation is also under development by the same group. They are working develop a video publishing tool built on Blog Torrent, which is another free open-source software from Downhill Battle. Their goal is to allow users to publish fullscreen video to thousands with virtually no bandwidth cost. You can get involved in developing too.

That sounds very cool. While I am looking forward for the above applications there are several thoughts wavering in my mind. 1) Will this become another piracy tool? 2) Under aged will become more vulnerable to explicit content 3) How will anti-piracy groups handle this 4) A loss to the cable TV providers? 5) How is this going to be regulated?
