If you clean your home frequently it is important to take certain precautions not to injure yourself.  Many cleaning products can have negative affects on your skin, lungs and eyes.  Here are some tips on keeping safe when cleaning your home.

One of the easiest ways to protect yourself is to wear protection.  You can easily find gloves to protect your hands from harsh, base type cleansers such as soaps, detergents and scrubbing powders, eye protection from any liquids or powders that may come into contact with your face and masks to reduce the fumes you breathe in.

It is extremely important when cleaning your home to keep whatever room you are cleaning properly ventilated.  Many people have difficulty cleaning the bathroom, because most bathrooms either have a small window or just a vent.  Many people sometimes find it hard to breath or get dizzy when cleaning their home.  We tend to think that the cleaners are friendly, easy to use products, but these are harsh chemicals that can cause harm to us.  If you find yourself having difficulty with a product, either feeling dizzy, having side effects etc, it is wise to contact the poison control department.  There is usually a number on cleaning products to report difficulties or concerns with a product.  The poison control center can usually help you reduce the affects and inform you how to use the product safely.
