American's love to travel and they love a bargain even more.  Many people look for the best deals for airplane ticket so they can spend more money on their actual vacation.  Here are some strategies for finding great deals on airline tickets.

Who sells the lowest airfares?  Now, with the internet the level field has become even.  You can search over 100 different fares in a few minutes, you can check availability on a myriad of flights generating from several airports to various destinations.  The internet has become one of the best tools to help the customer find the best available fare.  If you receive a great fare on the internet, you can always call the airline or travel agent direct and see if they can beat that quoted fare- thus saving even more.

When to purchase airline tickets?  Most experts agree that the best time to purchase tickets are very early or at the last minute.   If you are a planner, then get your tickets as early as possible.  Most airlines have special fares at lower rates several months ahead of the flight.  If you are a person that needs to fly in the next couple of days you may also be in luck.  If a flight is partially booked and significant revenue has a chance of being lost, the airline may discount fares in the last few days.

Sign up for Airline Miles.  Most airlines have special frequent flier miles which can save you big and even earn you free trips to selected destinations.  Credit and bank cards also offer airline miles with selected offers.  Using your credit card during the year can in certain situations earn you a free flight or vacation.

So take a look around the internet, do a little research and save on that next big vacation.
