For many people, taking prescription drugs is a way of life.  Whether you have an illness, injury or ailment, many people rely on their prescription drugs to keep them living as healthy a lifestyle as possible.  Unfortunately with so many prescription drugs being prescribed it can be difficult for many people to keep track of their pills. Here are some tips on increasing your safety with prescription pills.

When first getting prescribed a new medicine, make sure you speak to your doctor or health care professional on how it should be taken, what are common side effects and if it is safe to take with other medicines that you are prescribed to take.  Many people, especially the elderly can get confused if they are prescribed too many medicines at one time.  Not only do many pills need to be taken at different time intervals, but many pills might look the same adding to the confusion.

If you are taking prescription pills, make sure you pay attention to what pill you are taking and when you are taking them.  Keep a log if possible and plan your pills out for the next couple of days so you always have your pills organized and ready for taking.  If you have any problems with your pills, immediately contact your pharmacist or doctor.
