The Marriage of Ajax and Java

d="filecontent">

Before Ajax became the byword for the developer’s quest for greatness, Java maybe the closest language that anyone wanted to learn. Java is a very interactive language that provides more than just a browsing experience but Java has been used for different online tools.

Java isn’t even done in the internet browsing but it has even been used for games. This is specially seen in mobile technology where Java has been used predominantly for games. Other types of applications could have been possible but because of the limitation of mobile phones during those days, it’s only possible to create small, entertaining applications. But when Ajax came out rolling more than three years ago, most of the attention of was given to the revolutionary application. Its basic concept is really simple: create a program that’s purely server side that users don’t need to install anything in their computers before using that program. Instead of relying on the computer’s power of connecting to the net, the server will handle everything that a basic computer needs. Thus, even a simple computer can easily connect to the Ajax based sites as the server, not the client will have to take care of the connection’s speed of responding to the computer’s request. Another advantage of Ajax is that it can change in real time because it constantly refreshes the information without changing the whole website. Although Java wasn’t left to rot, Ajax has basically eclipsed every other programming language possible. Java still needs an installed program for Java to work in a computer. It’s also a client side language that relies on the computer’s speed. For developers who want to cross over Ajax from Java will have a hard time adopting since it requires a new set of skills. But these skills can be learned. So granting that you already know Ajax and Java, where does Java fits in? Java can certainly move with Ajax smoothly. This integration is very powerful since it can provide the client side programs that should complement Ajax. Instead of taking care of everything, Ajax will just have to concentrate on the process. Java could even work with Ajax so that Ajax will just concentrate on the inputs made by users. This could be done using JSF or JavaServer Faces which is a fast rising technology as it appeals to the Java programmers who wanted to influence Ajax with Java. There are still other programs that extensively use Java in Ajax applications. Servlets and JavaServer Pages (JSP) are also some of the programs that use Java and effectively implement them in an Ajax environment. These two programs convert Java created rules to become something like API for Ajax programming. The result is a stunning program of Java and Ajax. Personally, these three programs are a great alternative for strictly Java programmers. Although it still needs a little bit of familiarity with Ajax based programs, this would certainly remove the need of getting too familiar with Ajax. Remember that Ajax is a very complicated program that learning it might be too complicated and Java developers might end up confusing some programs.
