ZeroKode Let's ZK Drag and Drop their Functions
Along with the popular frameworks, IDE has become the standard for developers who are in a rush for new web applications. IDE has now made possible the simplicity of development while keeping in mind the same application behavior. Most IDE’s today are stand alone applications that are framework agnostic and frameworks are generally able to accept different types of IDE for web development. IDE for a framework however is rare but it does exist. One of them is ZeroKode. This IDE is developed solely for the development of application within ZK framework.
Obviously, the first requirement of ZeroKode to be properly implemented is the knowledge of ZK framework. ZK is generally a challenging framework to learn but the end product of an application that is made with ZK is pretty impressive. So additional learning is needed by developers before they could even touch ZeroKode. However, if you have been working under the ZK environment, ZeroKode is a welcome addition to the slew of functions that you can do in ZK framework.
ZeroKode is installed as a .war file in the application server. ZeroKode is one of the IDE’s that could be a telltale sign of what the future of IDE would be – web based.
Instead of a full installation, developers have to interact with ZeroKode as a web based application for developing another application. Functions could be easily dragged and dropped into the specific areas where the function is to be launched.
No coding is needed so that these functions could be easily implemented in the website. Instead, developers only have to set the parameters and the expected events once the function has been activated. So that these functions could be identified and feed asynchronously for Ajax based developed, XML is used to stream the information from the server to the client side browser.
Additionally, developers can use the .zul file that comes with ZeroKode. These files are already pre-designed files which could be easily customized. This is very ideal if you are starting out in ZK and move to ZeroKode for easier development.
As we have previously indicated, ZeroKode ushers the signal of web based IDEs. This is very beneficial in the sense that this application does not require a large amount of space before it is being launched as an application. This is also the signal for a more robust web based IDE which has the ability to handle strenuous tasks in building an application.
ZeroKode is now on its version .8. The previous versions were looked up as something an eye-candy version as to what it is today. But besides the fact that developers still has to be familiar with ZK framework before they could use ZeroKode, developers still has to live with some minor flaws of the of the IDE. The notable challenge for developers is the inability of ZeroKode to scan in real time whether or not the application could actually run with the uploaded function. There are no pop-up functions that could tell the developers where they are today. But these are nothing if you are already familiar with the framework.
